LOFOTEN ISLAND DISCOVERY

LOFOTEN ISLAND DISCOVERY (154 photos) Send this reportage Send this reportage
Surely one of the most beautiful and enchanting destinations in Europe. Lofoten begin to be, say, "trends" for foreign tourists. As a far alpine enclave, the old Viking archipelago is waking on an eternal twilight Boreal on the black waters of the formidable Norwegian Sea. Here, time has just stopped.

They are pearls of Norway, a little over a hundred kilometers southwest of Narvik, Lofoten strung like a rosary lifted.

The archipelago extends from Vagan to the east to south-west Rost, last speck of land lost in the ocean. It takes perseverance to penetrate the strong line that extends along the Norwegian coast. A day of air travel from Paris, in three stages, with aircraft becoming smaller to reach, on the island of Vestagoy, Svolvaer, the administrative capital. Enclave modest and discreet, its port area grows sparingly. Just behind, in a wild elk, the mountains are lost in a bluish haze. There is perhaps no place like this, a world apart, perpendicular, torn and grandiose alpine landscape, wearing hats with crowns of snow on the seabed cold and pure.
