THE PARISIAN BAYOU - FRANCE (76 photos) Send this reportage Send this reportage
In the french capitale of France, Paris, since the 60s, barges and houseboats have settled along the parisians banks and in the "Bras de la Tortue", east of the St Germain island. An new art of French living, aquatic and bohemian, which has nothing to envy the Louisiana bayou. In this green oasis, just steps from the center of Paris smell like neo May 68. Discovery trip in the heart of this lakeside village.

Of the 1300 boats that occupy the banks of the few places in Paris, those of a dead oxbow of the Seine, nicknamed "the arm of the Turtle" create a true lakeside village on the outskirts of Paris.
A way of life, these landlubbers valuing claim and defend the docks forgotten.
Over the river, the sandstone of the gentle stream, boats, barges freysinet, barges furnished, old transformed floating pools, form a aquatic village like no other. The heterogeneous population, families, singles, poets, naval officer or executive of this "happy" village live the same adventure, completely different than their neighbors to the ground.
