APULIA, THE DOORS OF ORIENT

APULIA, THE DOORS OF ORIENT (55 photos) Send this reportage Send this reportage
Rich and generous, the Apulia is considered a bridge between Occident and Orient. The green hills end up on fine sand beaches or on cliffs extended over the blue Adriatic Sea or the green waters of the Ionic Sea.

Rich and generous, the Apulia is considered a bridge between Occident and Orient. The green hills end up on fine sand beaches or on cliffs extended over the blue Adriatic Sea or the green waters of the Ionic Sea.

Coming to Apulia, you will find out that Byzantines, Normans, Arabs, Hohenstaufen, Angioins, Aragons and Barbarians succeeded in that area, each one leaving its mark in architecture, traditions and art.
You may be bewitched by the northern “Gargano” with its olive trees growing on white rocks next to the sea. You could be surprised as well by the little white “Trulli” that looks like a herd grazing in the green Itria Valley.
Moreover, you will be attracted by the mysterious octagonal-shaped “Castel Del Monte”, located in the Central area and dating back to Federico’s reign.

…all this framed in a multicultural mix of local folklore.
