To destroy, to construct, to reconstruct even faster and even further, that’s the modernity. The minorities’s houses and ancestral customs which have resisted the politics. The so-called “mac do” culture would have been much more powerful than the communism.
China is about to wake up. The once despised west has become the source of inspiration for a whole generation who believes so much in the latest mobile and the ultra-light Nike. The share of the wealth is no longer topicality. One of the present concern is the personal wealth. The values of the capitalism are rooted in the customs. A lot of journeys from 1988 let me see the this evolution, first of all that of Shanghai thanks to its opened doors to the west. This urban frenzy ruins the landscape because the vestiges of the ancient society are destroyed in order to be rebuilt. The uniform white brick has become the symbol of the conformist modernity. However there are still minorities far from this restlessness. The routes leading to these villages are getting bigger and bigger and become suitable for vehicles. Televisions can be found everywhere.
