COUNTRYSIDE, THE OTHER FRANCE (69 photos) Send this reportage Send this reportage
Indebted, operated, silent, but Proud to be farmers! In sixty years the farmers are now endangered. The epic of the ordinary people that one can still meet in remote spots, along goatherd tracks. They are our memory. To all of us. Wisdom of a world carrying a legend, a world that knews how to listen and how to observe the daily beauty surrounding it.

Proud to be a farmer !
A world that has always exercised a particular magic on the collective consciousness.
The epic of the ordinary people that one can still meet in remote spots, along goatherd tracks. They are our memory. To all of us. Wisdom of a world carrying a legend, a world that knows how to listen and how to observe the daily beauty surrounding it. A world that has always exercised a particular magic on the collective consciousness.

With gestures still alive and outdated mechanisms for some which nevertheless still work quite well at a certain economic scale. Know-how and traditions (here the « Cochonnaille i.e. Foodstuffs made out of pork », the « The old way of harvesting », « The olives ‘hand-picking » …) are slowly disappearing
to profit a mechanization that doesn’t respect anymore the natural living properties of a countryman’s life.

Tired looks, used hands, arched bodies but proud of being a peasant. Everything is there, from suffering to ecstasy in a final local-coloured bouquet.
