150 miles north of Quebec city, Lake Saint-John is nestling in a mountainous bosky bower. It stretches its waters so far that you could easily presume it is an inland sea. You are mistaken though because it flows into the Saint-Lawrence River through the Saguenay River and Fjord.

For one century, France produced 1,320 tons of black truffles Tuber melanosporum. Today truffle-producing regions have slightly advanced, and truffles production greatly reduced. Depending on the year, the average production is about 20 tons, with peaks up to 46 tons per year.

From the end of May the water becomes rare, leaving place with the drought. The herb will not feed any more sheeps having crossed all winter in plains. It is thus necessary to begin the long road of high mountain pastures. Every year, the herds of sheeps leave Provence to find a herb more beautiful, more green and fatter.
